Possible Setups

It is essential to plan your company's chat network you can rely on for decades. Choose from multiple examples to create the chat network of your dreams, whether you chat on your company LAN or the world wide web, this is the solution to connect your friends and employees.

You can add users and create a file server, so chat clients can send attachments to eachother, but you can authorize users from your company database and use your own file server as well.

I. LAN only setup

This is the easiest setup which makes everyone behind your company's firewall use Ozeki Chat. In this case you just need one Ozeki Chat Server and some Ozeki Chat Clients with no other company software or tool. Please install Ozeki Chat Server on a single machine and install Ozeki Chat Clients on your chat stations (Figure 1). The server must run on a Windows or Linux PC. The main purpose of this server is to authorize login and setup connection between users. It stores file attachments as well. If the setup gets slower it is highly advised to use a custom server to store file attachments.

II. LAN only with custom User Authentication

You can set this system up similarly as the 'I. LAN only setup'. The difference is that here you can use your company's user authentication system. The Ozeki Chat Server can provide authentication through LDAP, HTTP, RADIUS and SQL Database servers. You can use your MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle SQL servers and even more. After an authorized login the users can chat with eachother (Figure 2). Ozeki Chat Clients can be installed on any Android, Windows or Linux device, these devices are called chat stations. All chat station must log into a connections setup server.

III. LAN + Internet setup

This setup is a great way to connect your employees when they are on the move. Every Ozeki Chat station should have a safe connection to the world wide web through firewalls. By placing the connection setup server outside your company this setup works outside your company LAN. The connection setup server is basicly the domain name server which is the first server to be reached by Ozeki Chat Clients. The Ozeki Chat Server and user authentication procedure can stay inside the company to keep user authentication safe an secure (Figure 3).

IV. LAN + Internet setup with custom File Exchange

It looks almost like the 'III. LAN + Internet setup'. It works if you have no file exchange server installed on your Ozeki Chat Server, so you will need to host a file exchange server outside the firewall and connect it to your Ozeki Chat Server (Figure 4). This way your users can send bigger attachments to eachother. It can create a faster user experience as well, since your Ozeki Chat Server will not have to spend time storing file attachments.
